Furiosa and Loki spend time alternately in each place as work and seasons allow. They trade fairly and learn as much from one another as they can, and in time the populations begin to fluctuate, with some of the people of the Citadel coming to Loki's settlement to live, and vice versa.
The couple could separate for a time, if they wanted or needed to. Particularly after the first few months, after it's clear the alliance will hold and everyone in it has chosen it in good faith. It seems like Furiosa doesn't want to, though. She's not clingy, but it's clear she's softened towards her spouse, fond and playful with him in public and in private.
It works. They fit. It's not quite a full year of their marriage before she shyly presents him with a length of green fabric on which she's carefully embroidered the shape of a fox and cub, surrounded by flowers.
And if you think it's easy for a woman with one prosthetic hand to embroider, you'd be wrong.
